Full Moon O Sagashite
Title:
Full Moon O Sagashite
Author: Arina Tanemura
Sub-Genre: Schoolgirl, Singing
Story: The story is about a young 12 year old girl named Mitsuki Koyama who has a great passion for singing and wishes one day to be an idol. But she can't sing because she suffers from throat cancer that is, until one night she's visited by two shinigami (death gods). They tell her she has one year to live and that her wish can come true with their help. She is then transforms into a 16 year old girl but what's even stranger is that with this age she's no longer sick.
Review:
Don't let the rather tragic beginning scare you because this is an excellent story. Mitsuki is in every way lovable, she's always trying her best to make everyone happy and at the same time overcome her own fears. Her dream is to sing so that her childhood friend, living away from her, can hear how much she cares about him through her songs. The drawing style does this very well with beautiful songs that are worth purchasing the animated version of this story just to hear them. We also have two very funny characters, Takuto and Meroko who join Mitsuki in her quest to reach her friend. The plot is very solid and gives us a few little surprises along the way which I won't spoil for you. A very good choice which I can guarantee you won't be disappointed with. I have all 7 volumes of the manga, the artbook and even stuffed toys of Takuto and Meroko. It's such an adorable, sweet and very well done story.
